LULL

We were so busy at work and now we are in a lull. I am here on my own while the other 2 people that I work with full time are away at a service. Then we will have nothing for the rest of the week unless we get a call today.

It seems so weird when there is nothing to do. I mean, there are some things to do like dust and water the plants but after that, UGH!!

We (I mean Truckerman) have started moving things into the new place. Oh what at mess!! The previous renters left the place in an absolute disaster. The house was messy when we looked at it but they were getting ready to move. I did find it strange that they did not really have any boxes packed. Now I know why. The only took what they needed and left the rest including the kitchen table. Yup they left the table. And they also did not clean.

I admit that my house is messy. But it is just stuff all over. But this place was a dump. I don't think they ever vacuumed or cleaned anything ever. The poor landlords are trying to get it cleaned but now they are really sick and can't get to it. I think I may be spending some time there in the next few days washing walls, etc. OY!! :-P

Just as long as it is clean for when we move in one the 16th that is all that matters.

It is bitterly cold here. I am so glad it is not me on that service today. I don't have to go to the cemetery. I look funny when I get ready for work. My coat done up all the way, 2 pairs of mitts, 2 scarves (one around the neck and one around my face), 2 pairs of socks in my big boots, and my bright green Pilsner (a beer brand) toque. I am ready to go. I would rather be warm then look good.

I normally wear the scarf, mitts and boots and get made fun of at work because it looks funny with my good coat and dress clothes but like I say, "I would rather be warm then to loose my toes."

wearing out

I am getting worn out and the week is not over yet. I have been very busy at work and my manager is away so I am on my own (with the help of our trust attendant).

I would like to know what people think we (funeral directors and embalmers) do all day?

I had someone phone me and ask me for a job as a funeral director. When I said that a person needed to go to school (most of what you learn is useless) he was shocked at that.

The boys have started swimming lessons and are really enjoying them. Grandma and Grandpa paid for the lessons for the boys Christmas presents. A great present if you ask me. All children should learn to swim.

what's new

I am finally a licensed funeral director!!! I wrote the exam on Tuesday and I was so nervous that I took only an hour to write the exam. On the way back from the office after the exam I thought that I was going to throw up, cry, hyperventilate. I was freaking out so the lady at the reg board office called me with the news that I had passed with just the first part of the exam.

What a relief that was until I called my dad right after that. I called him to tell him and he informed me that my great great uncle Yo-Yo had passed that morning. Burst my bubble.

We have found a new place to live. It is only 5 minutes from where we are but it is in a much better safer area which is good for the boys. It is a duplex so we are only sharing 1 wall. We have a large fenced yard, a driveway, there is a play ground down the street, it is twice the size as what we have and the landlords seem like very nice people. We still have 1 month left on our lease here and we are taking possession at the beginning of February so we can move our stuff as the month goes on. The sooner we move the better for all of us. We are all so excited, even the boys, they are excited about the idea of the playground and having a place to have a playroom.

Pete and I went home to go to my uncle's funeral. Uncle was a special man in our family. We all had a special unique relationship with him and I will miss him. Pete has been to funerals before but not one where we could view the person, or go to the cemetery (that he remembers) so some of this was new to him. He is an emotional young man and he cried at the funeral and at the cemetery. I think it is good that he was able to express his emotions in front of everyone. It was also nice for him to see my Gramps show his as well.

Repete was happy to have his dad all to himself for the weekend. They had pizza, chips and pop and they borrowed a couple shows from the library. They had a good time. According to Repete, they had some pizza, watched some shows, went a couple places, bought a couple things, rented a couple things and that's all. Kids are too funny.

Wow what a time...

The boys, Truckerman and I sat down one night and made gingerbread houses. Mainly Truckerman and I helped the boys with the houses.
We let the boys open their presents the night before we left because the was not enough room to put all of our things into the car. We bought the boys NASCAR bedding which was a huge hit. Repete could not get the comforter out of the bag fast enough.
Originally we were supposed to have been home for the weekend before Christmas but it worked out that we were able to stay straight through until boxing day. We surprised a lot of people.
Christmas morning Uncle Cookie and Jo took the boys and dads out tobogganing. Of course we did not bring anything to slide down the hill with because of the lack of room in the car so the boys used boxes. They worked out great and everyone had a great time until Uncle Cookie blew a hole in his raft.
After lunch Christmas Day we went to the farm for the boys to ride on my Gramps's new Kaboda. It is a really neat thing and will help him on the farm so much.Later we went to Truckerman's dad's for supper and we were able to go on the snow mobile. What fun!!! Truckerman's dad tied an old satalite dish to the back and we had a great time. In the picture Truckerman is driving with Pete and I am on the dish with our niece.

Boxing day Pete curled in his first bonspiel with Truckerman, grandpa and grandpa's friend. He did really well for his first one and they placed in the top 6.

After Christmas Truckerman's cousins decided to have a skating party and potluck supper. This was the first time that Repete has been on skates (the first time he would try) and he did so well. Unfortunately I missed the skating and the after supper festivities because of work.

I am missing out on a lot of things because of work it seems. We have been so busy that I work a lot of overtime and I get home late or I work the weekends and my days off. I was thankful that I was able to get the time off at Christmas to spend with our families. It was a welcomed holiday.
